New Position(s) open: Several in Gloucester, management related, One in Woods Hole, aquarist.

Events Happenings: Launch of the RV Pisces, third in the series of new research vessels in the NOAA fleet. Length (LOA): 63.8 m (209 ft).

New Research activities / highlights:

  • The NOAA Fisheries Toolbox (NFT) is a suite of biological modeling software programs that can be used in fisheries stock assessments, the Toolbox version 3 is now available (http://nft.nefsc.noaa.gov/)
  • The National Systematics Lab has updated their website (http://www.nefsc.noaa.gov/nsl/mainpage/)
  • The NE Salmon Team program has a new website (http://www.nefsc.noaa.gov/salmon/)
  • The Office of Marine Ecosystem Studies has released it spring advisory
  • Other News: GARM (Groundfish Assessment Review Meetings) in progress provide updated assessment of approx. 20 species/stocks.
