Ms. Sally McGee  
 

Sally McGee works for Environmental Defense Fund as the Policy Director for the Oceans Program in New England. She is based in Mystic, Connecticut and works throughout the region, building coalitions with industry, natural resource agencies, and other non-governmental organizations in support of sustainable fisheries using incentive-based approaches to management. She is also a member of the New England Fishery Management Council. She has served on the Council's executive committee and as chair of its habitat committee shepherding development of new essential fish habitat designations for all federally managed species in the region. She currently chair's the NEFMC sea scallop committee which oversees the most lucrative federal fishery in the region. Prior to joining EDF, Sally worked in the US House of Representatives for the Chairman of the House Resources Subcommittee on Fisheries Conservation, Wildlife and Oceans. She received her Masters in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island and her B.A. in economics from Smith College. Sally also holds a 100-ton near coastal US Coast Guard merchant mariner's license.
